Funny Faces

Sammy is always making funny faces these days. If you tell her to smile, she will squeeze her eyes shut and make a weird smile. I can always count on her doing something silly. Although, she is a lot harder to get a good picture of because she is always running away! It seems like she has to run everywhere-maybe that is how almost 2 year olds are. And by the way, Sammy is going to be a big sister, we are expecting another in November!

Makin my own headbands

So I was searching the web the other day like I am always doing and I came across this page with a pattern for headbands and so I decided to try it today. It was actually really easy and a lot of fun! I just had Jake take my picture so you could see one. This is really my first successful one. The first one I made a little too small. I am now working on a pink one and then I want to go the fabric store to get more fabrics so I can make lots more. Mostly I was just using scraps for the two I have already done. They are also so cheap. You only use about 6 inches of elastic and less than 1/8 yard of fabric (or scraps if you have em). I thought these would make great presents but you kind of have to know how big people's heads are! So here is the link if anyone else is interested-let me know if you try em!

A New Friend

Jake's good friend from Montana Jeff moved into town at the beginning of this year with his wife Jo and little boy Calder who is almost 3. It turns out they live only about 5 miles from us, down Geneva Rd. which is pretty funny. We have gotten together a few times, and Sammy wasn't quite sure what to think about Calder. I think she just isn't used to being around older boys (that sounds funny huh). Well they came over this last Wed. for dinner and Jeff helped Jake move topsoil into our backyard. Sammy finally started playing with Calder and they actually got along pretty well. Calder is a cute kid. Well later that night, I put a movie on for them and it was so cute to watch them lay by each other. Granted if they were older........it may be a different story. But for now its cute!

Easter Eggs

Sammy had so much fun dying easter eggs this year! We couldn't believe how much she got into it-quite literally. Her hands were dyed this greenish color for a few days afterwards, but it was worth watching her have so much fun. I just love the age that she is because she is so excited to try new things and wants to do everything!

Our Lovely Yard

For those of you who don't know, we bought a house last year which we love, but the yard has and is a lot of work! It was pretty much a covered forest in the backyard and we have been clearing it out all year. Well we are getting close now to planting grass, but it has been TONS of work. I decided to take pictures one day, just to prove how crazy it has been. We were clearing out the asphalt in the back the day before we had the asphalt professionally removed. Jake started taking it out last summer, but we realized that it would probably take him about 5 years to finish so happy tax returns! While we have been working the back, Sammy has been playing the dirt which thankfully she loves!

Cute Shorts

So I bought some shorts last year for Sammy for $1 and now they actually fit. One of the days when it was warm (again a few weeks ago) I put them on her and she loved them. She kinda just stared at them for a minute and then decided that they were cool!

Too bad I cut off her head in this pic!

Zoo Pass

So I thought I didn't have any pics and that's why I haven't blogged for awhile, because pictures just make it so much better! Anyhow, turns out I had over 200 on the memory card and just haven't taken them off! So I am going to back track and post!

Well for Christmas my Grandma & Grandpa Brooks gave our family a year long pass to the zoo, which we could start whenever we wanted. A few weeks ago, when the weather was actually nice and warm for a few short days, we decided to start it. We went during the week, Sammy and I with our friends Dixie and Aleia. The girls both loved it. Here are some fun pics of that day.
